New and imaginative fitness class ideas that will have everyone hooked.

Let's face it, going to the same old aerobics class week in, week out, can get boring. Nowadays however, there are all sorts of fun activities that make excellent workouts. New classes and sessions are being introduced everywhere so there is bound to be something to suit everyone.

Give Ballroom Dancing a Go

Street dance classes have always been popular but over the past few years the interest in ballroom dancing has also began to rise. This can be attributed to the popularity of TV shows like the BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing in the UK and ABC’s Dancing with the Stars in the States. There are so many styles of dancing to choose from that it is not hard to find something suitable.

Ballroom dancing can improve posture and will work the cardiovascular system, therefore it is a very social form of exercise and perfect for weight loss. A quick search on the internet will provide details of ballroom dancing in any area of the world.

Run Away to the Circus

Circus skills inspired workout sessions are springing up everywhere at the moment. The Reebok Sports Club has teamed up with the Cirque Du Soleil to create their own take on circus inspired fitness which they have named ‘Jukari’. Jukari introduces participants to the art of Trapeze whilst toning the arms, legs and core muscles. If Trapeze isn’t the one, the Generating Company in London offers Chinese Pole, Aerial Hoop, Rope & Silk and Acrobatics classes that are guaranteed to make a good workout.

Get Addicted to Hula Hooping

Aerobics teachers are reliving their childhoods all over again with the revival of the hula hoop. Christabel Zamor led the way in hoop dancing and created the ‘hoop girl’ image for herself. There are literally hundreds of tricks that can be performed with a hula hoop and it is the perfect choice for anyone wishing to tone their tummies and hips. Exercise hula hoops are larger and heavier than a child’s hula hoop therefore they are easier to get spinning and to keep spinning.

Join the Army

Recently people have been flooding their local parks or outdoor spaces to take part in Army style bootcamp workouts. British Military Fitness run classes all over the UK that are taught by ex-members of the armed forces. Their classes are geared to all levels and beginners are welcomed. Bootcamp workouts typically involve cardio vascular, strength and endurance training so are ideal for those wishing to increase their fitness levels or loose weight. There are no fancy ‘moves’ or ‘steps’ involved in bootcamp training sessions, just good old fashioned sweat and hard work.

Fitness classes will never be the same again.
